About me

I’m Eduardo, a PhD student at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the Universidad de La Laguna (ULL). My main interest is in understanding how galaxies evolve, from their early formation up to the present-day Universe. To do this, I leverage the power of stellar population properties and machine learning techniques to unravel how galaxies form and evolve over cosmic timescales, in particular using data from the DESI survey. I am part of both the TRACEs and IACDEEP research groups, where I work with many colleagues from around the globe and my supervisors, Ignacio Martín-Navarro and Marc Huertas-Company.

My academic journey began in my hometown of Porto Alegre, Brazil, where I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, focusing on the intriguing phenomenon of multiple stellar populations in globular clusters.

Beyond my scientific pursuits, I am an avid book reader, a mediocre tennis player, and an amateur photographer.
